Sit

Sit.

Not because you should.

Not to become better.

Just because right now the body already knows how to sit.

Breath arrives without invitation.

Leaves without goodbye.

You are not the host.

You are the borrowed porch where wind keeps passing through.

Thoughts appear like strangers walking past the gate—

some glance, some shout, most don’t even notice you.

No need to chase them down the road.

No need to explain why you stayed on the porch.

The sound of one pine needle landing on another

is already complete teaching.

Listen until you forget you are listening.

Then forget you forgot.

When the timer chimes,

don’t hurry to stand.

Let the bell finish ringing inside the ribs

before you decide what “standing” means.

You were never really sitting anyway.

You were only being sat.

Carry that much silence into the next step.

That’s all.
